The NSDC aims to build vocational and profitable training institutions. The goal is to provide skill training to prospective individuals, enabling them to get employed in specific industries.

Here is a list of schemes and initiatives offered by National Skill Development Corporation –
- Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)
The PMKVY is a skill development programme that teaches industrial skills to Indian youths, enabling them to secure a better livelihood. It is the principal scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), which is also implemented and regulated by NSDC.
- Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK)
PMKKs are Model Training Centres (MTC) established in every district. They are regulated and funded by NSDC to create benchmark educational institutions that provide competent skill development training.
- Udaan
Udaan falls under the Special Industry Initiative (SII) funded by the Ministry of Home Affairs and is implemented to address the economic issues that prevail over J&K. It provides graduates and postgraduates with the opportunity to work in some of the best corporates in India.
- International skill training
India International Skill Centres (IISCs) were established to provide certification and training as per international standards. This assisted in the creation of an Indian workforce adept in overseas jobs.
The costs associated with the programme vary among courses. Some centres can also provide free training while charging a small assessment fee at the time of admission.
The business courses can be beneficial for entrepreneurs who intend to establish their own venture successfully. In case of funding, they can opt for a loan against property to support any organisational expenses down the line with ease.
